EFFECTIVLEY USING MULTI-MEDIA
Wikis are educational tools. The most important thing about education is engagement and diversity, this includes the wiki.
Every wiki needs to be as engaging as possible and have as much variety as it can.
DIVERSITY + INTEREST= ENGAGING AND EFFECTIVE WIKIS
You need to consider when developing your wiki who will be the main target audience and suit your infomation to their needs. This wiki will be produced not only for a group assignment but for future reference when we are teaching. Therefore the infomation we put up on this wiki will need to be easily accesable, interesting for student viewing and relevent to the topic areas of choice.
Our wiki must also include a diverse range of media applications, thus making it more appealing.
It must included, hyperlinks to documents containing useful infomation about the topics.
- YOUTUBE and TEACHERTUBE
- SLIDESHARE and BUBBLESHARE
- FLICKR and PHOTOBUCKET
- DEL.ICIO.US
a new wave of technology will allow people to activily partake in conversations on our wiki!
TALK ABOUT DIVERSIFICATION!!!
1. YOUTUBE and TEACHERTUBE

This video would act as a great introduction to junior high school students who are about to begin studying history. It may even be appropriate to have an accompanying question sheet.

Here is a REALLY good video for an introduction to Hinduism, especially for those who are teaching year 11 and 12 for a comparative Religion study.

Here is another video clip, but the it is about Geographical terms in relation to Italy, a great teaching tool that could be implemented in the classroom.
2. SLIDESHARE and BUBBLESHARE

This collage of images provides a thorough and concise introduction to the introduction of Baz Luhmahn's Romeo and Juliet - looking at the camera angles, sound, colour, mis'en'scene etc - all key components when studying film, especially an adaptation of William Shakespeare, where the students need all the help they can get.

This slideshow is an excellent educational tool, with high quality information of ancient civilisations and supportive maps and diagrams. It offers a very thorough analysis which could be implemented in the classroom on a projector, or the students could access it from home. A great teaching tool.

The pictures from Pompeii offer students with clear images of what the remaining architecture and artifacts look like, following the destruction of Pompeii from Mt. Vesuvius- this would be a great history source.
3. FLICKR and PHOTOBUCKET
Flickr.com allows anyone in the world to share and access great photographs and images. For instance, take these photographs of the Colleseum in Rome, they could be used in the classroom to coney the true wonder and awe of such a great and historical monument.

Photobucket.com also allows for easy access to shared photographs and images. These images could be used when teaching students about monuments or ancient beliefs in Ancient Egypt civilisations. (Photobucket also has shared videos)
